The Journey

"...Starts With You."

Wanting Different, Doing Different

Can You Relate?

I use to wake up most days feeling unfulfilled, lost and without purpose. I’d question life on many occasions wondering why I was here.

The condition I had would only amplify these emotions.

I had interests in certain hobbies but never had the energy, enthusiasm or drive to do anything about them.

I’m naturally an ambivert but would spend an unhealthy amount of time by myself, with negative thoughts.

I would try to see the glass as half full but with the way I really felt, it was easier to see it as half empty.

I was lacking in confidence and would allow myself to fade into the background, in social settings.

I’d eat foods for comfort but for which I knew were detrimental to my physical health. I knew I needed to exercise, but the thought alone caused mental fatigue.

I’d spend my free time watching junk TV, smoking drugs or playing games – anything to help me escape reality.

I got into relationships out of need, emotionally dependant on others for my happiness. My condition would make it difficult to balance life, work and relationships.

I’d given up on myself. Although I wouldn’t admit it out loud, I knew it in my heart. I was painting on a smile that wasn’t at all real. I was the living dead.

Can Things Get better?

The simple answer is Yes. I believe sometimes as humans, we underestimate our ability to bounce back and recover from down periods in life.

One thing I’ve learnt on my journey is that in reality, it only comes down to one thing. How badly you want change.

I got to a point where my back was completely against the wall. I became stuck in a cycle of despair with no visible means of escape – or so I thought.

Little did I know, I possessed the ability to pull myself out the pit of darkness that had become my home.

The catalyst – Desperation. Desperation for change, desperation for a renewed life, desperation for different.

My crumbling surroundings, formed this catalyst. I thought I was just unlucky enough to have an unfortunate life.

Looking in hindsight, these events in my life, were the reason I hit this deep level of desperation that would set me on the path to becoming the best version of myself.

I reached a point of fight or flight. All I knew is, I was valuable enough to try and not quit. On life, or myself.

I tried repeatedly, until my tries became the new normal. It led to a destination I could never have envisioned at the start.

So yes, you absolutely can get better.

If you will it with every fibre of your being and you follow through with small actions, you can change your life, entirely.

What's The Process Like?

A journey towards real growth, development and transformation, can be lonely I’ll be honest.

Unless you have someone close on the same path (which is more unlikely than likely), it’ll be You versus You.

What I learnt is, you have to be everything for yourself. You become your own coach, cheerleader, encourager, the person you talk to when it’s really getting tough.

This journey consists of you, standing in the atrium of your own mind, slow clapping for yourself. Aside God (if you’re a believer), you will be all you have.

Until you’ve flown a plane, you’ll never know how it feels to fly one.

I simply mean, it’s a journey others will struggle to understand, unless they’ve been there themselves. That’s why it’s just yours.

There will be many days when you have to convince yourself not to quit.

Days when you cry because you’re putting in work, your fatigued, results are slow and your emotions are fighting you. The old you, will fight to stay.

There will also be days however, when you celebrate yourself because of the progress you’re making.

You’ll begin to look different, feel more confident and radiate a glow that reflects in your charisma and attracts others.

The process may be daunting but it’s also the most rewarding personal venture you’ll ever experience.

The one thing I’ve loved most, every eventuality in the process has a positive function, even if it may not feel like it at the time.

There’s power in not giving up. Each time you relentlessly continue regardless of how you feel, you define your true self and solidify the potential you carry.

Your life can be beautiful. I’m just here to encourage you to see it.

Peace of mind and a healthy body are inevitable when you begin to think and feel in the right way. Whatever you claim mentally and feel is true, your subconscious will accept and bring forth into your experience.

You have to be willing to allow the person you are today to die so that you can give birth to the person you're meant to become. Do what is hard & your life will become easy.

Any significant measurement of growth will require experience to commit to the substance of the unknown through faith.
