Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
Sharing My PMDD Journey, To Encourage (and educate) Others
Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a severe and debilitating version of PMS (pre menstrual syndrome). Whilst PMS is more commonly known, and experienced by a large number of menstruating women, PMDD is experienced only by a small percentage of women. Overall, there’s still a lot of us.
The condition was the bane of my life for years. Aside the life problems I experienced, it was an unfortunate addition affecting me to the point I’d experience suicidal thoughts with each monthly episode.
Reality star Vicky Pattison, came out and shared her own experience here. She gives a great account on what it’s like to live with.
I won’t go into too much detail here as I’ve done this within my blog posts below but I will say, despite the condition, I’ve found a way to enjoy life regardless. The severity of the symptoms are nothing like they were in the past. It no longer controls me, I control it.
The ability to fight such a detrimental condition is what provoked me to share my story and encourage others. The symptoms experienced are similar to those most people will go through at some point in life. Whether you have the condition or any other mental health difficulty, it doesn’t have to define you.
Below, you’ll find my blog posts covering my personal experience with PMDD. If you’re a lover of visual content, you’re also welcome to check out my PMDD playlist on YouTube here. I provide details on my experience with the condition and tips on how I manage it effectively.
